The Bible Answers

Do All Religions Worship the Same God, Just in Different Ways?

(Please use back arrow to return to the quiz when you are finished studying this page.)

As this question would be commonly understood, the answer is false.

We are funny people, aren't we? All over the world there are different ways of treating the diseases of the body. There was a time when disease was treated by removing blood from the body of the sick person. Remedies involving urine, burnings, potions, and spells are still used in parts of the world.

Does it matter what kind of medicine you use to treat the body? Why are we so careful of the body, and so stupid about the soul?

Isn't it true in some way, that it is fear that makes us pretend that everyone worships the same God in different ways? It helps us avoid making some tough choices. Serious conditions involve touch choices, however. Just as there are many "remedies" that will do no harm if you are not sick, so there may be many religions that may "do" for this life. The real question, however, might well be this one: What about the life to come? What sort of religion is necessary to save the soul and obtain the blessings of eternal life.

The Bible has some answers.

There is only one Living God.
Jeremiah 10: 10:

But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

What good are dead gods that are made out of wood or stone, or that only exist in the minds of people? Is there a God that exists Who I cannot find within myself, One who lives? If there is, is it important that I know Him?

What are you proud about?
Jeremiah 9:23-24
"Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

The Living God does things of lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. Do you know Him? Or do you worship a dead god, one that is just a "hope so" kind of god?

Does the Living God have people called by His name?
2 Corinthians 6:16

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them~ and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Believers are called by the name of God and they are called out ["church" means "called out"] to be a special people for the Lord. They belong to God and God belongs to them. The true God is their God and they are His true people.

Jesus is the Son of the Living God.
Matthew 16:16
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
1 Thessalonians 1:9, 10 Ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

Hinduism worships millions of gods because they believe that any god is ok, so gods are still being invented.

This should get your attention: The Bible clearly reveals that there is but one God, that He can be known, and that He alone is to be worshipped.

There are many churches that would answer the question the same way that it is answered at this web site, but we would love to have you invest some time and effort to come to Trinity Covenant Church and learn from the Holy Scriptures about these very important things.
